Commencements

As I settle into my plans for the summer or more so a lack thereof. Being solo, without set times or places to be, finding a comfort in losing direction. I feel a sense of being a stranger, a ghost in a foreign land. It reminds me of the excited terror I have felt time and time again at moments of commencement. But unlike before this one is without ceremony or fanfare or Hallmark cards for as our lives get longer our accomplishments and failures more complex and personal, we must find our own meaning, our own ability to acknowledge new beginnings.
When I was younger I thought aging meant gaining firmer plans and structure in one’s life. But it is quite the opposite. My life’s progression has been that of a loosening on what comes next and an embrace of not knowing. Its scary and yet the more I release the more I find an ease, like learning to float.
If you have any events or accomplishments in the coming summer season congratulations. And if those accomplishments are happening in the Northeast let me know because I’d love to help you celebrate! And if there happening further away still let me know because you deserve to share and be recognized!
